Luke Szelengiewicz, 8yo
#4 | Junior 1 | Mild & Laid-Back

The child who started it all for the Szelengiewicz family, Luke, was 5 years old when he started racing in the Novice class at The Original Speedway Park in Fruitland Park, Florida/
Today Luke is 8 years old, in the Junior 1 class, and racing the #4 kart for his family's racing team, Papa's Racin', and for the Drive for Diabetes Awareness team. Luke's involvement with DFDA stems from his step-mom being a type 1 daibetic, and his interest in learning how to help take care of her.
Luke's driving style is generally mild and laid-back, but don't let that fool you. When Luke is in his zone he will use his mild mannered driving tactics to sneak up behind and pass his competition, leaving then in the dust.
Ethan Szelengiewicz, 7yo
#27 | Junior 1 | Kamikaze

Ethan, following his big brother's footsteps, began racing once he turned 5 years old in the Novice class at The Original Speedway Park in Fruitland Park, Florida.

Today Ethan, who is 7 years old, races in the Junior 1 class. Ethan is a 2x Rookie Class Track Chamption at The Original Speedway Park in Fruitland Park, FL.

Ethan received the nickname Kamikaze by a few bystanders at The OSP who witnessed his driving tactics as being fearless, loose, and care-free. His father, Tyler Szelengiewicz, describes his son's driving as, "not a care in the world". This kind of driving is what allows Ethan to come out on top the first two weekends back at racing amid the COVID-19
shutdown, and to catch the attention of the folks at Bread Winners Racing (BWR), who conducted an interview with him Thursday, May 21, 2020.
David "Papa" & Tyler Szelengiewicz
Father & Son | Co-Founders of Papa's Racin'
David "Papa" Szelengiewicz & Tyler Szelengiewicz are a father and son team whose mission is to ensure the happiness of their sons/grandsons, making everlasting family memories, and traditions that will hopefully continue to extend throughout the years.
In the beginning when the oldest son/grandson, Luke, had a dream of racing go-karts Papa & Dad did what they could to see his dream come true. They worked long days into the night buying karts, learning what it meant to maintenance and repair karts.
They learned it all from scaling, balancing, and tire prep. The task has been far from easy, and like all father's and sons David & Tyler have even shared in a spat, or two, but in the end the team always comes out stronger than ever, remembering that there is nothing greater in life than your family by your side, and a smile on a child's face.
